As most of you know our Father Chief Hawks of Capac, MI was critically shot on April 16, 2008.
Chief Hawks was attempting to stop a careless driver when the driver pulled into his driveway and fled inside. Chief Hawks called for backup and a tow truck. After the tow truck and St Clair County Deputy arrived on scene the suspect exited his house and shot Chief Hawks with a .22 rifle. The bullet struck him in the right arm passing clean through and entered the right side of his chest. The bullet then hit his liver, puntured his right lung then punctured his abdomin. The bullet is currently resting on his left kidney where it will stay due to the dangers of removing it.
We would also like to thank the citizens and tow opperator that put their own lives in danger to render aide to our father. After realizing that the ambulance would not respond to the scene because of the active shooter on the loose they loaded our father on the back of the tow truck and drove him to an awaiting ambulance down the street. We believe these citizens should be awarded the Medal of Valor for there actions. |
